Blanco Driveway & Pavers: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Blanco driveway and paver work in Dallas typically runs $7,000 – $18,000 for a full paver driveway installation, with repair work on failed sections starting around $1,200 – $2,500 depending on the substrate damage underneath. We stock Blanco-compatible pavers and edging on our trucks, and most repair calls are diagnosed and priced the same day. The typical way homeowners find us: a paver has sunk or shifted after a Dallas rain season, the edging has pulled loose, or the original install has developed a low spot that holds water against the garage slab.
Blanco pavers carry their own set of installation realities in North Texas. The clay-heavy soil here expands and contracts more than most installers account for, and a Blanco paver that looked perfect the first year can start walking out of plane by year three if the base wasn’t compacted right. We see it in Lakewood, Preston Hollow, and East Dallas regularly. The paver itself is rarely the failure point. What fails first is almost always the base, the edge restraint, or the drainage path under it.
Bradford Remodeling Co Dallas is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Blanco, but we install and repair their paver product line and match existing work so you don’t end up with a patch job that looks like a patch job.
Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco’s hardscape line for driveways and pavers splits into two families: the Blanco Classic paver series and the Blanco Permeable paver series. The Classic series is the one you’ll find on most Dallas driveways built in the last 10 to 15 years. It’s a concrete paver with a chamfered edge, and it comes in 6×9 and 6×6 units with a 60mm thickness for vehicular use. The Permeable series has spacer lugs built into the sides, wider joints, and a different base spec. You cannot mix the two on the same driveway. The joint widths are different, the base depth requirement is different, and the drainage behavior is completely different.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we run into all the time in Dallas: Blanco changed the color casting on their “Sonora Blend” line in 2019. The pre-2019 batch runs slightly warmer, more terracotta. The post-2019 batch is greyer and cooler. If you have a pre-2019 Sonora Blend driveway and one section needs replacement, a new batch of Sonora Blend will not blend. We keep documented paver records on our installations, and when we repair an older Blanco driveway, we pull from salvage stock or color-match from multiple suppliers before we lay a single paver. That’s the kind of detail that separates a repair that looks right from one that looks like a scar.
OEM Blanco pavers versus quality aftermarket: for Classic series, the aftermarket options from Belgard and Unilock have nearly identical dimensions, but the color chemistry is different. We’ll use an aftermarket equivalent only when the homeowner understands and approves the color difference in writing. For Permeable series, we don’t substitute. The spacer-lug geometry is proprietary enough that aftermarket units won’t seat correctly. OEM is the only honest option there.

Signs Your Blanco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- A paver sinks an inch below its neighbors. This is a base failure, not a paver failure. Water got under the bedding sand, the clay soil beneath swelled or washed out, and the base layer lost its bearing capacity. You can’t fix it by topping sand over the top. The base has to come out and get recompacted.
- Edging pulls away from the driveway edge. The plastic or aluminum edge restraint wasn’t spiked deep enough, or the spikes were spaced too far apart. Once the edge lets go, the outer pavers start migrating outward under vehicle load, and within a season you have a wave pattern along the border.
- Low spot that holds water after a rain. In Dallas, standing water on a Blanco paver driveway means the base has settled unevenly. Water sitting against the paver joint erodes the polymeric sand, then gets under the pavers and accelerates the cycle. This is the most common repair trigger we see after spring storms.
- Polymeric sand turns to mush or washes out completely. If the joints are empty or soft, water is getting straight to the base. On a Blanco driveway, that means the sand was either installed dry (it should be activated wet), or it was never refreshed after the first year. Without joint sand, the pavers start chattering against each other under tire load.
- Pavers chip at the chamfered edge. Blanco Classic pavers have a crisp chamfer, and once that edge chips, the paver is compromised. Edge chipping usually shows up where tires turn hard on the driveway, like the apron by the street or the curve into the garage. It’s a sign the bedding sand was too thin in that spot and the paver was flexing under point load.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed Blanco paver driveway work in Dallas falls into these ranges, and we give a written line-item price before any work starts:
- Full paver driveway installation: $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, access, and base depth.
- Concrete driveway (comparison): $4,500 – $12,000 installed.
- Driveway replacement (remove and reinstall pavers or pour new): $5,000 – $14,000.
- Paver patio installation: $3,500 – $11,000.
- Spot repair (base failure under a section, re-level and re-sand): usually $1,200 – $2,500 per failed section depending on the size of the area and how deep the base failure goes.
The range on a full install is driven mostly by base depth and existing soil conditions. In Dallas, we spec a minimum compacted base of 6 inches for vehicular use on clay soil. Some bids come in lower because the contractor specs 4 inches. A 4-inch base on Dallas clay will fail. We won’t bid it. The written price includes base excavation, aggregate base, bedding sand, pavers, edging, polymeric joint sand, and site cleanup. No numbers move at the door. If you approve the price in the morning, that’s the price at close. Every completed paver job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if the base shifts, the edging lets go, or the pavers fail within a year, we come back and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do one thing yourself: walk the driveway after a rain and mark every low spot with chalk so you can show us exactly what you’re seeing. That saves real time on diagnosis. You can also check your edging by toeing it gently along the border. If it moves more than an eighth of an inch, note that too.
What you should not do is attempt to re-level pavers by prying them up and dumping extra sand underneath. On a Blanco driveway, the base under the bedding sand is the problem. Adding sand on top of a failed base creates a temporary cosmetic fix that fails again within one Dallas rain cycle. You also should not rent a plate compactor and try to recompact a settled section without excavating it first. Compacting the surface of a failed base does nothing, and it can crack the pavers you’re trying to save. And if the driveway apron has settled where it meets the city sidewalk or street, leave it alone. You may be looking at a utility easement or city right-of-way issue that needs a permit discussion, not a Saturday project.

FAQs

A correctly installed Blanco paver driveway in Dallas should hold up for 20 to 25 years with joint-sand refreshment every 3 to 5 years. The pavers themselves are rated for that lifespan. What shortens the life in North Texas is base failure from clay soil expansion, which is why we overbox the base spec beyond the manufacturer minimum. Call (903) 326-8963 if you want us to assess your base while it can still be corrected.
Yes, most failed sections can be repaired without replacing the whole driveway. We excavate the failed area, recompact the base, reinstall the pavers, and re-sand the joints. The caveat is color matching, especially on pre-2019 Blanco Sonora Blend. Call (903) 326-8963 for a free assessment, and we’ll tell you honestly whether a spot repair will blend or whether you’re better off doing a larger area.
Most single-section repairs take one to two days including base recompaction and joint sanding. A full driveway installation typically runs 3 to 5 working days depending on size and access. We’ll put the schedule in writing with the price, so you know what you’re getting into before we start.
We stock Blanco Classic 6×9 and 6×6 units in the most common Dallas colors on our trucks, and we can source Permeable series OEM pavers through our supplier network. We also keep Blanco-compatible edge restraint and polymeric sand in stock. If you need a color we don’t have on hand, we’ll get a lead time and put it in your written estimate.
Straight number, real scope, no surprises on delivery day.
