Mr-Glass Windows & Doors: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Mr-Glass-compatible windows and doors across Dallas, with most replacement parts installed between $800 and $2,500 depending on the component and your home’s framing condition. Most owners discover the failure the same way: a window that won’t latch, a door that drags against the jamb, or a draft that showed up after the last freeze cycle. You don’t need a full replacement job to fix it. You need the right part matched to your Mr-Glass model, a straight quote, and the work finished without drama. That’s what we do.
Dallas heat and humidity are hard on window and door hardware. The springs and balances that hold a double-hung sash up give out faster here than in drier climates, and door weatherstripping compresses after two or three Texas summers. Before you start calling around, check your unit for a manufacturer label. Mr-Glass etches or stickers most units on the top rail of the sash or the edge of the door slab. That label tells us the series, the glass package, and the production date, which narrows the part match down to the exact spec.
Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass window and door systems are built around a finite set of extrusion profiles and hardware families. A balance from a Series 710 double-hung will not fit a Series 900, even if the sash width looks identical. The difference is in the shoe width and the spring weight rating stamped on the side of the balance. We match parts by measuring the sash, checking the stamp, and verifying the series number before anything gets ordered or pulled off the truck. Guessing is how an owner ends up with a sash that slams shut or won’t stay up at all.
For locks, keepers, and hinges, we carry both OEM Mr-Glass parts and quality aftermarket equivalents that match the original hole pattern and finish. If the original Mr-Glass finish is a specific bronze or matte silver, OEM is the safer route. For internal parts like balancers, rollers, and weatherstripping, the aftermarket options from reputable suppliers generally equal or exceed the original spec, and they cost less. We’ll tell you which route we’d take on your specific unit, and why, before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Sash drops when you let go. The block-and-tackle or spiral balance inside the jamb is worn. The spring is no longer holding tension. This is a mechanical failure, not a lubrication issue.
- Window locks but still rattles in wind. The keeper on the frame is loose, or the sash has shifted out of square from years of thermal expansion in Dallas. Tightening the keeper is sometimes enough; a warped sash is not.
- Door drags or sticks at the top corner. The hinge screws have pulled loose from the jamb, or the slab has absorbed enough humidity to swell. We see this constantly in older Dallas homes where the framing behind the hinge has given up.
- Draft you can feel standing two feet away. The weatherstripping has compressed past its service life, or the door sweep is torn. Replacement weatherstripping is an inexpensive fix if you match the original channel profile.
- Condensation between the glass panes. The seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. This isn’t a hardware fix; the IG unit itself needs to be replaced to restore the thermal barrier.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Dallas, expect to pay roughly $800 to $1,200 for a double-hung balance and tilt latch replacement, $400 to $1,800 for a full window hardware overhaul on a single Mr-Glass unit, and $1,200 to $2,500 for a replacement insulated glass panel or a door slab re-hang with new threshold and weatherstripping. The range depends on the part, the series, and whether the framing around the window or door requires correction. We don’t surprise you at the door.
Every quote includes the part, the labor, the adjustment, and haul-off of the failed component. It’s a written number before we begin. The work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair doesn’t hold within the first year, we come back and correct it at no charge. No re-trip fee, no arguing.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the obvious things: loose screws on hinges, torn weatherstripping, a lock that needs the keeper tightened by an eighth of an inch. Those are routine adjustments. What you shouldn’t do is remove a sash that’s still attached to the balance system. The spring inside the balance is under tension, and a fast release can take a finger off. The same goes for an insulated glass replacement: the glass is heavy, the seal has to be set correctly, and the sash frame is easy to rack out of square if you force it.
If you’re dealing with a window that won’t stay up, a door that won’t close square, or a blown seal, let us look at it. A diagnostic visit costs you nothing but time, and you’ll get a straight number, real scope, no surprises on delivery day. Call (903) 326-8963 and we’ll get it sorted.
FAQs

Expect a 15 to 20 year service life for the hardware and weather seals on a Mr-Glass window or door in Dallas, provided the unit was installed square and the weep system stays clear. The glass itself can last far longer; it’s the moving parts and seals that Texas heat and humidity wear down first.
Some components, like keepers and hinge screws, can be tightened or shimmed and returned to service. Balances, tilt latches, rollers, and failed insulated glass generally need replacement. We’ll only recommend the repair when it’ll actually hold, and only the replacement when it won’t. Call (903) 326-8963 for an honest assessment.
Most single-window hardware replacements take an hour or two once the correct part is on hand. Matching a series-specific part can add a few days if it isn’t in stock locally. We’ll give you the timeline in writing before the appointment.
We keep the most common Mr-Glass-compatible balances, rollers, locks, and weatherstripping profiles stocked for immediate replacement in Dallas. Less common series-specific parts are ordered by exact spec from our supplier network and installed as soon as they arrive. We also carry hardware for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone installations, so if your window or door issue sits alongside a cabinet or countertop piece, we can address it in the same visit.
