Ameristar Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

Ameristar fence installation in Dallas typically runs between $3,500 and $9,000 for a full residential perimeter job, with most standard backyard enclosures landing in the $4,200 to $6,500 range. That covers removal of the old fence (where needed), new posts set in concrete, panel installation, gate hardware, and a written one-year guarantee on the work. The way most Dallas homeowners find us is a section of fence leaning after a storm, a gate that drags, or posts that have started heaving out of clay soil after a wet spring.

We install and retrofit Ameristar fence systems throughout the Dallas market, and we’re an independent contractor, not a factory branch. That matters because we match what’s already on your property to the right Ameristar panel profile, post gauge, and gate hardware without pushing a whole new system if you don’t need one. If you’ve got an American-made ornamental steel fence that’s failing at the posts or panels, call (903) 326-8963 and we’ll put a written price in front of you before any work starts.

Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

Ameristar runs three main ornamental steel lines: the Classic series (lighter residential gauge, sold mostly through box stores), the Impasse series (heavier picket profile, the workhorse for Dallas backyards), and the Montage series (the premium extruded-aluminum line, often paired with stone columns or drive gates). Most Dallas homes we see built in the last 15 years have Impasse panels, and the giveaway is the punched picket channel rather than welded joints.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people don’t know until they’re mid-project: Ameristar panels are punched to accept specific post dimensions, and the Impasse panel is not interchangeable with the Classic panel even when the height matches. You can’t mix a Classic panel onto an Impasse post line and expect the rail brackets to seat. Before you buy anything, look at the top rail for a stamped model code, or measure the picket spacing and rail thickness. We carry the common Impasse posts, brackets, and gate frames on our trucks; the less common Montage hardware gets ordered direct with a two-to-four-day lead time in Dallas.

Signs Your Ameristar Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drags or won’t close square. Dallas’s clay soil heaves with moisture swings, and the gate post moves enough to drop the latch out of alignment. The fix is usually re-setting the post, not replacing the gate.
  • Panel sags between posts. This means a rail bracket has snapped or a post has started leaning. The steel itself rarely fails; the connection points do.
  • Post wobbles at the base. A post that moves when you push on it has rusted below grade or was set without enough concrete. In Dallas’s clay, we dig these out rather than patching around them.
  • Speckled rust at weld points. This is common where the factory finish was scratched during installation. Left untreated in North Texas humidity, it spreads under the powder coat.
  • Fence leans in a single direction after a wind event. Panels that lean in unison mean the post footings were never deep enough. We see this most often in the sprawling developments north of Dallas where builders put fences in fast.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

For Dallas-area Ameristar fence installation, expect $3,500 to $9,000 for a full replacement. A typical 150-linear-foot backyard with one gate runs between $4,200 and $6,500, depending on how much of the existing post line can be salvaged. If the posts are sound and only panels and hardware need replacing, you’re looking at the lower end. Full replacement with new posts, concrete, and gate hardware lands higher.

Every bid we write is a fixed, written price, no numbers that move at the door. It includes removal of the old fence, disposal, new posts set in concrete at depth, Ameristar-compatible panels and brackets, gate install and adjustment, and a walkthrough with the site left clean. The finished job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything on that fence fails inside a year, we return and correct it at no charge. Written guarantee, in your hand, before we pack up.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things an owner can safely check before picking up the phone. Look at the gate post: if it moves when you push it, you’ve found the problem. Inspect the rail brackets for cracking where panels meet posts. Check the base of each post for rust that’s eaten through the powder coat. Those findings help us price your job accurately over the phone.

What you shouldn’t do is try to pull a leaning post straight without backing out the concrete, or cut and re-weld Ameristar steel with a DIY wire feed. The steel is thick enough that a bad weld fails fast, and a fence that comes down in a storm is a liability, not a project. If the post is moving, the concrete below it has already failed. Call (903) 326-8963 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether you need a repair or a full replacement, then back that number with a written quote.
