Boral Driveway & Pavers: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

Boral paver and driveway repair in Dallas typically runs $350 to $1,800 depending on how many pavers have failed, whether the base has shifted, and whether we’re matching an existing Boral color blend or replacing a full section. We stock common Boral paver sizes and edge restraints on our trucks, so most repairs are one visit. You usually find out a paver has failed the same way every Dallas homeowner does: a paver sinks after a hard rain, a corner chips off from the mower, or a section of the driveway starts rocking underfoot because the bedding sand washed out underneath.

If you’re looking at a cracked, sunken, or shifting Boral paver, the fix is rarely just the one paver you can see. The failure is almost always underneath it. That’s the part most people don’t get told until they’ve already paid for a cosmetic patch that fails again in six months. We’ll walk you through what’s actually happening, what it costs, and what we’d do if it were our driveway. Bradford Remodeling Co Dallas is an independent service provider; we are not affiliated with Boral, but we work with their pavers and edge systems regularly across Dallas driveways, patios, and walkways.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral’s paver lines in North Texas fall into a few families you’ll recognize if you pull up your original install paperwork. The big three we see in Dallas are Boral Stone-Like pavers (concrete pavers molded to resemble cut stone), Boral Clay Pavers (fired clay, often in reds and browns on older Preston Hollow and Lakewood homes), and Boral permeable pavers used where drainage is a concern, which in Dallas means almost everywhere with clay-heavy soil. Identifying what you have matters because the replacement paver has to match not just color but thickness. Most Boral driveways use 60mm pavers (about 2 3/8 inches); patios and walkways are often 50mm. You can’t swap a 50mm paver into a driveway rated for vehicular load and expect it to hold. Look at the side of a loose paver; the thickness is your first check.

Color matching is the other gotcha. Boral runs color batches, and a paver manufactured in 2018 does not precisely match a paver manufactured in 2024. Sun fading in Dallas does the rest. For a true match we recommend keeping a spare paver or two from the original install whenever possible. If you don’t have spares, we take a sample to match the blend as closely as the current batch allows, and we’ll tell you honestly if it won’t be invisible. Aftermarket equivalents exist for some Boral profiles, but with clay pavers especially, the aftermarket fire tolerance and dimensional consistency rarely match the original. For a driveway that takes Texas sun and the occasional hailstorm, the price difference usually isn’t worth the risk.

As for other brands, we also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone on the interior side. But when it comes to pavers and driveway work, Boral is the system we match most often for our Dallas clients.

Signs Your Boral Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Sinking or depressed pavers after rain. This is the most common failure in Dallas, and it’s almost never the paver’s fault. Clay soil expands when wet and contracts when dry. If the base wasn’t compacted in lifts, voids form under the pavers, and the first good rain settles everything unevenly.
  • Pavers rocking when you step on the corner. Rocking means the bedding sand has migrated out through a gap or the edge restraint has failed. Once a paver rocks, the edges begin chipping against each other and the damage accelerates.
  • White chalky residue on the paver surface. Efflorescence. Water moves through the paver, dissolves salts, and carries them to the surface, where they dry as a white film. It’s cosmetic on concrete pavers but it tells you moisture is moving through places it shouldn’t be, which usually points to drainage or a failed base.
  • Gaps widening between pavers, especially near the driveway edge. Edge restraints are the first thing to fail on a driveway. The paver field is only as stable as its perimeter. When the restraint shifts, the outer pavers drift outward and the whole pattern loosens.
  • Water pooling in one area that never drained before. A paver base that has started to fail stops shedding water the way it did when it was installed. Pooling is your early warning, usually 12 to 18 months before visible shifting shows up.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled laundry and mudroom with a bench, cubbies and painted cabinets

For Boral paver work in Dallas, we quote the job in three parts: the failed paver or section, the base repair underneath it, and the edge or drainage correction that caused the failure in the first place. Quoting it any other way just guarantees you’ll pay for the same repair again. A single cracked paver that sits on a sound base might cost $350 to $700 to replace, including cutting out the paver, pulling the bedding sand, resetting the new paver, and matching the joint sand. A sunken section of six to ten pavers where the base has washed out usually lands between $800 and $1,800, because we’re excavating down, re-compacting in lifts, resetting the pavers, and re-establishing the edge restraint.

What drives the range: how many pavers are involved, whether we need to bring in new base material, whether the existing pavers are reusable or too spalled to reset, and color-match difficulty. Every quote is a written price before work starts, with no numbers that move at the door. We pull any permits the scope requires, and the finished repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails within a year, we come back and correct it at no charge. Straight number, real scope, no surprises on delivery day.

DIY or Call Us?

For a single paver on a patio, the honest answer is you can probably reset it yourself if you’re comfortable pulling the paver, re-screeding the sand, and tapping it back level. That’s a Saturday project. But on a driveway, especially one that sees vehicle weight, the danger isn’t in the paver, it’s in the diagnosis. If you reset a paver on a failed base, you’ve spent your Saturday and the paver will sink again by the next storm. And if your driveway has shifted enough to create a tripping hazard, that’s a liability you don’t want to sit on. What we’d rather see you do is call us with a photo and a description. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it looks like a simple reset or a base repair, and what each one costs in Dallas before we ever schedule a visit. Call (903) 326-8963.
