Delta Driveway & Pavers: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Delta driveway and paver systems rarely fail all at once. What you’re seeing is usually one component that’s given out: a cracked paver, a sunken section where the base washed away, or an edge restraint that’s let go after a few Dallas freezes. We stock Delta-compatible replacement pavers and the substrate materials that actually hold them, and a typical repair in Dallas runs $700 to $4,500 depending on how much of the base has to be rebuilt. Most paver repairs we quote are in the $700 to $2,800 range when we’re replacing a section rather than the whole driveway.
How owners usually find us: the driveway looked fine for years, then one winter a low spot appeared, then water pooled there, then a paver cracked under a truck tire. By the time someone calls, the base has usually shifted and the problem isn’t just the broken paver on top. The good news is that isolated failures fix cleanly. A full teardown is rarely needed, but you do need someone who’ll tell you honestly which one you’re dealing with.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta manufactures paver and driveway systems across several product families, and parts aren’t interchangeable across all of them. The two you’ll most likely find in Dallas homes are the Delta Permeable Paver System (open-graded base, larger joint spacing, designed for drainage) and the Delta Standard Interlocking Paver line (dense base, tight joints, rectangular and square formats). If you have a permeable system, you can’t just drop in a standard paver and call it done. The joint spacing won’t match, water won’t drain the way it should, and you’ll be back here in two years with the same problem.
How to identify what you have: pull up one paver and look at the underside. Delta stamps a series code on most pavers, usually two or three letters followed by numbers (for example, DS-3 or DP-40). If the stamp is gone, measure the paver and the joint gap. Standard Delta interlocking pavers run 60mm to 80mm thick. Permeable pavers are usually 80mm and sit on at least 8 to 12 inches of open-graded stone, and you can tell by the wider joints. When we source a match, we also verify the color lot, because two batches of the same “Slate Gray” can shift noticeably after five years of Texas sun. This is the detail that separates a decent patch job from one you’ll never notice.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Delta’s own pavers hold color and dimensional tolerance well, so for a visible repair we always recommend matching with a genuine Delta unit or a same-spec equivalent we source from our supplier network. For the base material and edge restraints below grade, quality aftermarket materials from Belgard and Unilock (both brands we install and stock) perform as well or better at a lower cost. The paver on top is what you see. What’s underneath is what holds it there.

Signs Your Delta Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- A paver sits lower than its neighbors: the base beneath that spot has washed out or compacted unevenly. This is the earliest warning, and the cheapest point to fix it. Dallas clay soil swells when wet and shrinks in drought, and that cycle slowly works pavers loose.
- Water pools on the driveway after rain: drainage below the pavers is blocked or the slope has flattened. On permeable Delta systems, this usually means fines and debris have clogged the joint spaces and it’s time to clean and re-stone them.
- Edge pavers have shifted outward: the edge restraint has failed. Without it, the whole field loses tension and pavers walk out toward the lawn over time. A new restraint is cheap; rebuilding the field after it’s all drifted is not.
- A single paver is cracked or chipped: point loading from a heavy vehicle, or a void underneath. If it’s a void, swapping the paver without fixing the base is a band-aid. It’ll crack again.
- Sand or fine stone washes out of the joints after every rain: the joint filler has broken down. On interlocking systems, that filler locks pavers together. Let it go and you’ll see the shifting and pooling from the first two signs.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

We quote paver repair and replacement in Dallas as two categories: sectional repairs and full rebuilds. A sectional repair, where we’re pulling up 50 to 200 square feet, rebuilding the base, and resetting the pavers, typically runs $700 to $2,800. A full driveway teardown and rebuild, including excavation, new base, new pavers, and edge restraints, lands between $7,000 and $18,000 per the numbers we’ve been giving Dallas homeowners for years. The spread comes down to square footage, paver thickness, whether you have a permeable base that needs deeper excavation, and what’s actually failing underneath.
Every quote we write is a line-item price before any work starts. No numbers move at the door. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work: if the repair or replacement fails within a year, we come back and correct it at no charge. You’ll have that in writing, with the scope documented and the site clean before we roll off.
DIY or Call Us?
You can identify what’s failing without touching a tool. Pull one paver, look at the base. If you see washed-out sand or a void under the paver, that’s the problem. If the joints are empty of filler, that’s the fix. What you shouldn’t do is start excavating a permeable Delta system on your own: once you break into the drainage layer, you’re rebuilding graded stone and often a French-drain connection, and getting the slope wrong means water goes toward your foundation. In Dallas, with our clay soil and fast rain, that’s not a maybe. That’s a when.
For a single cracked paver with an intact base and solid joints, a careful homeowner can do that swap in an afternoon. For anything involving a sunken section, a failed edge restraint, or water pooling that wasn’t there before, call us. Curtis Lane has spent the better part of two decades running crews in Dallas, and the paver issues we see repeat. It’s usually not the paver. It’s what’s under it. Call (903) 326-8963 and we’ll tell you straight which one you’re dealing with.
FAQs

Properly installed Delta pavers last 25 to 40 years in Dallas, though the base may need adjustment every 10 to 15 years because our clay soil moves more than most. The paver itself rarely fails first; the base and edge restraint go first. Call (903) 326-8963 and we’ll tell you where yours stands.
No, once a paver is cracked through, replacement is the only correct fix, and patching or epoxying it will be visible and weaker than the surrounding field. A single paver swap is inexpensive as long as the base underneath is still sound. We can match the series and color lot so the fix is invisible.
Most sectional repairs we do in Dallas take one to two days, including base rebuild, paver reset, and joint filler. Full driveway rebuilds run three to five days depending on square footage. You’ll have a written scope and a start date before any work begins.
We stock common Delta series increments and matching joint filler, along with base stone and edge restraints, so a sectional repair can often start the same visit. If your series is older or unusual, we source the match first and schedule the repair once we’ve verified color and dimension. Call us at (903) 326-8963 with the stamp code from the back of one paver and we’ll tell you what we can match.
