KraftMaid Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
KraftMaid fence installation in Dallas typically runs $3,500 to $9,000, depending on linear footage, fence height, gate count, and whether we’re pulling old posts or setting new ones in fresh concrete. Most KraftMaid fence and gate components can be matched and installed same week, not same day – we schedule fence work on a real calendar, not a promise we can’t keep. You’ll know it’s time when a gate drags, a post leans past plumb, or a section rattles in the wind when the neighbors’ fences don’t.
We’re not affiliated with KraftMaid corporate. We’re an independent Dallas contractor that stocks and installs KraftMaid-compatible fence components because the build quality holds up to Texas sun and clay soil better than most off-brand stock we’ve pulled off trucks.
Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

KraftMaid’s fence and outdoor product line splits into the Essentials series (basic 4-foot and 6-foot privacy panels, pressure-treated pine framing) and the Estate series (6-foot and 8-foot panels, heavier corner posts, aluminum gate frames). The parts aren’t interchangeable between series – an Estate gate hinge won’t mount to an Essentials gate stile without drilling new holes and weakening the frame.
To identify what you’ve got, look for a small engraved code on the inside face of the post cap or on the bottom rail of a gate. The Essentials code starts with KF-E; Estate starts with KF-S. If the code’s faded or painted over, measure the post. Essentials posts are 3.5 inches square. Estate posts run 4.5 inches. That measurement tells us which hinge set, latch, and post bracket we bring from the truck before we ever set foot on your property.
For replacement hinges and latches, we stock OEM KraftMaid components when Dallas suppliers have them in rotation. When supply is thin – and it gets thin in spring – we carry a spec-matched aftermarket line that mirrors the mounting pattern and load rating. We’ll show you both options and a written price for each before anything gets ordered.

Signs Your KraftMaid Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drags or scrapes the ground on swing. The hinge post has shifted out of plumb. In Dallas clay soil, this usually means the post wasn’t set with enough concrete or the concrete collar cracked after freeze-thaw cycles. A dragging gate wears the hinge barrels fast.
- Post lean greater than a half-inch out of vertical over four feet. Wind load in North Texas is real, and a post that’s moved means the footing failed or the post rotted at grade. Straightening it without resetting the base is temporary.
- Panel rattles or flexes when pushed. The rail-to-post brackets are loose or the rails have pulled free. Left alone, the panel racks and stresses every fastener in the section.
- Hinge squeal that greasing doesn’t fix. The hinge pin or barrel is worn oblong. On KraftMaid gates, this happens faster on gates wider than five feet because the hinge load exceeds the factory hinge rating.
- Latch won’t catch without lifting or forcing the gate. The frame has sagged or the latch plate moved. Forcing it chews the latch bolt and eventually splits the stile where the hardware mounts.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Dallas-area KraftMaid fence work, here’s how the numbers break down:
- Full fence replacement (KraftMaid Essentials, 100 to 150 linear feet): $3,500 to $6,000 installed
- Estate series replacement (same footage): $5,500 to $9,000 installed
- Single gate replacement (hinges, latch, frame): $500 to $1,400
- Post reset with new concrete footing: $180 to $350 per post
What drives the range: linear footage, post removal difficulty (old concrete collars in Dallas gumbo clay add labor), gate count, and whether we’re matching existing panels or running all new stock. Every Dallas fence quote from us is a written line-item price before work begins. That number doesn’t move at the door. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation for a full year – if a post shifts or a gate binds inside that window, we come back and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check a few things without touching a tool: walk the line and mark every post that’s visibly out of plumb, check that each gate opens and closes without lifting, and look for cracked or spalled concrete at the post bases. That front-end inspection helps us quote accurately over the phone.
Where DIY goes wrong is pulling and resetting posts. A 4×4 post set in a 2-foot concrete collar in Dallas clay is heavy, awkward, and easy to set crooked under pressure. Setting it right requires a level, proper gravel base at the bottom of the hole, and concrete mixed to the right slump – too wet and the post floats out of true as it cures. If you’ve got one loose post, we can reset it in a few hours. If you’ve got three leaning posts and a dragging gate, the job’s a half-day with the right crew and equipment. Call us at (903) 326-8963 and we’ll quote it straight.
FAQs

A properly installed KraftMaid fence in Dallas lasts 15 to 20 years on the wooden structure, with gates typically needing hinge or latch service every 5 to 7 years because that’s where mechanical wear concentrates. The limiting factors here are high summer UV, clay soil movement, and occasional freeze-thaw cycles in winter. Call (903) 326-8963 and we’ll assess what’s left of your current fence’s service life.
In most cases, yes. Single post resets, hinge swaps, latch replacement, and panel section repairs are all standard work for us. Replacement makes sense when multiple posts have failed or the panels show rot at the rail ends. We’ll show you the repair price and the replacement price side by side and you decide – no pressure either way.
A single post reset takes half a day, including new concrete and cleanup. A full 100-to-150-foot KraftMaid fence replacement runs two to three days in Dallas, depending on old-post removal and gate count. We give you the schedule in writing before we start, and Curtis Lane keeps crews on it.
We stock common KraftMaid-compatible hinges, latches, post caps, and rail brackets on our trucks so a gate repair doesn’t wait on a shipment. For full panel and post replacement, we place orders through our Dallas supplier network with a written order confirmation and delivery window. We also carry compatible parts for Cambria, Silestone, and Kohler product lines when kitchen and bath work comes up.
