Master Halco Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Master Halco fence posts, panels, rails, and gate hardware across Dallas, with a complete fence installation typically running $3,500 – $9,000 depending on linear footage, material line, and what the tear-out involves. Most owners find us because a post heaved after a hard freeze, a gate dragged itself out of square, or a panel let go at the corner bracket during a North Texas windstorm and now the whole run looks tired. The fix usually isn’t as bad as it looks from the driveway. Straight number, real scope, no surprises on delivery day.

Which Master Halco Models This Applies To

Master Halco runs four main residential lines in the Dallas market: PostMaster, PostMaster+, Classic Select, and Distinction. PostMaster is the steel-post system that holds a 4×4 or 6×6 wooden post sleeve; PostMaster+ is the heavier-gauge version rated for taller privacy runs and gate posts. Classic Select is their cedar and treated pine plank line, typically 5/8″ thick pickets on 2×4 rails. Distinction is the premium option, usually cedar with a cleaner grade and tighter knot pattern. The compatibility gotcha most owners hit: PostMaster+ posts take a different bracket set than standard PostMaster, and the sleeve notch depth is not interchangeable. If a post moved on you, match the post cap stamp or the bracket hole spacing before ordering anything.

We’re an independent Dallas service provider; we’re not affiliated with Master Halco, but we work with their materials regularly and stock the common PostMaster brackets, post caps, and gate hinge sets on the truck. For OEM versus aftermarket: on structural steel posts and load-bearing gate hardware, we recommend Master Halco OEM every time. The aftermarket rail brackets work fine, but the post brackets are the one thing we won’t substitute.

Signs Your Master Halco Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts leaning at the gate or corners. In Dallas clay soil, the freeze-thaw cycle works a post loose over three to five winters. Once the corner post tips, the gate binds and the rails start pulling screws out of the panels.
  • Gate drags or won’t latch. This is almost always a hinge or post issue, not a panel issue. The hinge screws wallow out in the wood post, or the steel post shifted and the gate is now carrying its weight on the latch side.
  • Rails split at the bracket screws. Master Halco panels are built tight, and North Texas heat plus dry air shrinks the wood. The board shrinks, the bracket doesn’t move, and the rail splits right at the screw line.
  • Panel sags between posts. Cedar pickets are heavy. If the top rail was undersized for the span or the rails are nailed instead of screwed, the panel starts to dip in the middle and the picket gaps open up.
  • Bottom of pickets soft or black. This is ground contact rot. Dallas summers are humid, sprinklers in neighborhoods like Lakewood and Preston Hollow hit the bottom rail, and the untreated cut edge wicks moisture. Once it starts, the whole picket goes soft within a season.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A dining nook with a built-in banquette

Full Master Halco fence installation in Dallas runs $3,500 – $9,000. The bottom of that range covers a modest backyard run with PostMaster posts and treated pine panels, around 150 linear feet. The top end covers longer runs, steel PostMaster+ posts, cedar pickets, gate rebuilds, and tear-out with haul-away of the old fence. Most Dallas jobs we quote land between $5,000 and $7,000 for a typical 180 – 220 foot residential perimeter.

Every quote is a written fixed price before we start. The price includes the tear-out, posts set in concrete, panels, rails, brackets, gate hardware, and site cleanup. No numbers that move at the door. Work is covered for one full year under the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fence fails inside that window, we come back and correct it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a wobbly post by grabbing it at the top and pushing; if the post moves at ground level, you have a footing issue. You can tighten loose bracket screws and check that hinge screws haven’t wallowed out. The line is drawn at anything steel or load-bearing. Set a post wrong and the gate will never hang right. Handling PostMaster steel posts means concrete work and post-plumb work, and correcting a bad footing means digging out 18 inches of clay. If a post has heaved or a gate section is out of square, call (903) 326-8963. An estimate costs nothing and you’ll know the exact number before we put a shovel in the ground.
