Mr-Glass Roofing: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Mr-Glass-compatible roofing materials across Dallas, with typical installed pricing running $400 to $1,800 for repairs and $8,000 to $20,000 for full roof replacement. Most homeowners discover a problem the hard way: a water stain on the ceiling after a hard North Texas storm, or granules collecting in the gutters. Mr-Glass roofing systems fail gradually, then suddenly. The flashing corrodes, the seal around a vent cracks, and the next rain event pushes water where it doesn’t belong.
Bradford Remodeling Co Dallas is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Mr-Glass. That matters because we’re free to source the correct part, whether that means an OEM match or a better-built aftermarket equivalent. We’ll tell you which one makes sense for your roof and why.
Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass roofing products in Dallas homes span three general series: the standard asphalt shingle line, a mid-weight architectural series, and a limited run of metal panel systems. The compatibility gotcha most owners run into is profile matching. Mr-Glass architectural shingles changed their sealant strip width in 2016, and older sections can’t always take the newer tabs without visible seam lines. If you’re patching a section rather than replacing the full roof, the shingle dimensions have to match, not just the color.
How to identify your part: look inside the gutter line or along the attic deck for the original packaging label. Failing that, measure the shingle exposure. Standard three-tab runs 5 inches of exposure; architectural runs closer to 5¾. That measurement alone tells us which series you have and whether we can patch or should quote a full replacement. For Mr-Glass metal panels, the fastening pattern changed from exposed screws to hidden clips around 2019. Mixing the two on one roof creates leak points, so we don’t do it.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Mr-Glass OEM shingles carry the original manufacturer warranty, but aftermarket lines from GAF and Owens Corning often exceed the original spec at a lower cost. We carry both and quote both, with a written price before any work starts.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Roofing Is Failing
- Granules in the gutter. Asphalt shingles shed granules as the asphalt binder breaks down under Dallas sun. A few granules after a storm is normal wear. A steady stream every rain means the shingle is losing its UV protection layer and will start cracking within 18 to 24 months.
- Curling or lifting shingle edges. Roof deck ventilation problems trap heat and moisture under the shingles. The edges lift, wind catches them, and the next storm tears sections loose. Fixing ventilation at the same time as the shingles is the only way to stop the cycle.
- Water stains on the ceiling after rain. This does not always mean a big hole. Most often it’s a failed pipe boot or a corroded vent flashing. Those are $400 to $600 repairs. Left alone, the sheathing rots and the repair becomes a roof section replacement.
- Daylight visible through the attic deck. Go into the attic on a bright day and look up. If you see pinpricks of light through the decking, the shingles and underlayment have failed in those spots. That’s water intrusion waiting for the next cloud.
- Shingles that slide or fall after a wind event. A shingle that slides usually means the sealant strip never bonded or has aged out. In Mr-Glass older lines, the factory sealant degrades faster in North Texas heat than in cooler markets. We see this most on west-facing roof planes in Lakewood and East Dallas.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Dallas, Mr-Glass roof repair runs $400 to $1,800 depending on the failed component. A vent boot is on the low end. Replacing a section of shingles with matching stock runs higher, and it climbs further if the decking underneath has rotted and needs new OSB. Full roof replacement on a Mr-Glass system runs $8,000 to $20,000, driven by square footage, pitch, number of roof penetrations, and whether we’re matching Mr-Glass shingles or upgrading to a GAF architectural line with a stronger warranty.
Every quote includes the parts, labor, tear-off and haul-away when applicable, underlayment, flashing, and cleanup. There is no separate charge that appears on the invoice that wasn’t on the written quote. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair or replacement fails inside one year, we return and correct it at no charge. That’s in writing, on the signed quote, before the first tool comes off the truck.
Straight number, real scope, no surprises on delivery day.
DIY or Call Us?
An owner can safely clear gutters, photograph visible shingle damage, and check the attic for daylight. That’s where safe DIY ends on a roof. Walking a pitched roof without proper fall protection, prying up shingles without knowing the underlayment condition, or re-sealing flashing without matching the sealant chemistry are all ways to turn a $500 repair into a $5,000 one. Roof work in Dallas also means dealing with heat-slicked shingle surfaces most of the year, which is not where you want to learn a lesson.
We’re not going to talk you out of checking the simple things. But when it’s time to open the roof, call us at (903) 326-8963. Curtis Lane and the crew will give you the written scope and the real number before you commit to anything.
FAQs

Most Mr-Glass asphalt shingle roofs in the Dallas market last 12 to 18 years, which is shorter than the manufacturer’s stated lifespan due to North Texas sun, hail, and rapid temperature swings. Architectural series hold up on the longer end; three-tab on the shorter end.
Yes, when the decking is sound and the failure is isolated, a repair in the $400 to $1,800 range makes sense. Once the shingles have lost their granule layer across the majority of the roof surface, patching becomes throwing money at a roof that’s already done. Call (903) 326-8963 for a straight answer on your roof specifically.
Most single-point repairs are done in one visit, typically two to four hours depending on the repair type and weather. A full replacement runs one to three days for most Dallas homes, and we’ll give you that window in the written quote.
We stock the most common Mr-Glass repair parts on our trucks: vent boots, pipe collars, flashing sets, and matching shingle stock for the current series. For older Mr-Glass lines with discontinued profiles, we source equivalent aftermarket stock from our Dallas suppliers and note it on the quote before ordering. We also handle parts support for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone where our remodeling work crosses into interiors.
