Plant Prefab Kitchen Remodeling: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
A full Plant Prefab kitchen remodel in Dallas runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, and we complete most projects within 3 to 6 weeks depending on cabinet lead times and structural surprises. Bradford Remodeling Co Dallas works on Plant Prefab homes regularly, and the most common entry point for our calls is a kitchen that’s functionally failing: warped cabinet doors, delaminating countertops, soft spots in the floor around the sink, or factory-installed cabinetry that was never quite square. Owners usually notice the failure first in the lower cabinets near the dishwasher or sink base, where moisture exposure breaks down MDF cores faster than anywhere else in the room. What starts as a sticky drawer becomes a cabinet face falling off, and by then you’re not looking at a part swap. You’re looking at a remodel.
We’re an independent contractor serving Dallas and the surrounding area. We are not affiliated with Plant Prefab, but we know their kitchens inside and out, and we stock compatible replacement hardware and cabinetry components that match Plant Prefab’s original specifications.

Which Plant Prefab Models This Applies To

Plant Prefab builds kitchens primarily through two cabinetry paths: the standard line, which uses mid-grade thermofoil-wrapped MDF door fronts on frameless boxes, and the upgraded line, which steps up to plywood boxes with a wood veneer or painted finish. If you’re in the Dallas market and bought a Plant Prefab home between roughly 2018 and 2024, you’re almost certainly working with the standard thermofoil line unless the original buyer paid for an upgrade. The quickest way to identify which you have is to open a drawer and look at the inside face of the drawer box. If you see a small manufacturer sticker with a five-digit series code starting with “PF” or “PL,” that’s the standard line. If the drawer sides are a uniform solid wood or plywood, that’s the upgraded line.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that catches Dallas homeowners constantly: Plant Prefab’s European-style hinges use a 35mm cup boring and a 9.5mm reveal, which means you cannot simply bolt on Home Depot cabinet doors and expect them to hang correctly. The mounting plates are offset in a way that requires either OEM-spec hinges or a quality aftermarket equivalent with the same bore pattern. We keep Blum and Grass aftermarket hinges on the truck because they match the Plant Prefab bore spacing exactly, and they outlast the factory thermofoil doors by a wide margin. For box replacement, we use plywood or MDF boxes cut to match Plant Prefab’s modular cabinet dimensions, which are not standard off-the-shelf sizes. That’s the main reason a Plant Prefab kitchen remodel costs more than a generic cabinet swap: the cabinets are built to modular specs that don’t exist at a big-box store.
Signs Your Plant Prefab Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Thermofoil peeling at the door edges. The vinyl layer lifts away from the MDF core after repeated humidity cycling. Dallas summers are brutal on thermofoil. Once it starts at a bottom corner, it spreads fast, and no adhesive fixes it permanently.
- Drawers sticking or sagging on the undermount slides. Plant Prefab’s standard undermount glides are rated for about 75 pounds, but the factory sometimes installs them on wide pan drawers without a center support. The drawer rack twists, the g
