Toto Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

Installed Toto fence work in Dallas typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 depending on footage, material, and what’s already in the ground. We stock Toto-compatible components on the truck and can usually schedule a swap within the week once we’ve confirmed your existing layout. Most Dallas owners call us after a wind event or a few seasons of hard Texas sun have done their work, and the fence that looked fine in March is leaning by July.

Here’s the thing about fence work in this part of Texas: the soil moves. Dallas clay expands and contracts through our wet-dry cycles, and posts set in anything less than properly compacted, well-drained bases are going to take that movement. Combine that with what UV does to surface materials and you have the two most common reasons a Toto fence installation starts to fail. It’s rarely the fence itself. It’s what’s under it, and what’s been beating on it.

Curtis Lane and our crews have been running fence projects across Dallas long enough to know that the difference between a fence that lasts a decade and one that needs attention in three years is the base work and the fastening. Straight number, real scope, no surprises on delivery day.

Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto fence components are sized differently from what you’ll find at the big-box stores, and that’s the first compatibility gotcha most homeowners run into. Toto fencing uses a proprietary post-and-panel dimensioning system, which means a generic panel from a home center shelf won’t seat properly in a Toto post channel without modification. If you’re replacing a section, match it. If you’re extending a run, get the measurements off the existing post cap, not the panel face.

The easiest way to confirm what you have is to check the inside face of a post cap or the underside of a top rail. Toto stamps a series code there, usually a letter followed by a number. That code tells us panel height, post profile, and whether you’re working with the residential or commercial line. If you can’t find a stamp, take a photo of the post profile with a tape measure held against it and we’ll identify it for you before we schedule anything.

On OEM versus aftermarket: for structural components like posts and post caps, we recommend staying with Toto OEM parts. The tolerances are tight, and aftermarket posts that are off by a few thousandths create alignment issues down the line. For cosmetic pieces like trim and some infill options, quality aftermarket equivalents do exist and can save you money. We’ll be straight with you about which is which on a case-by-case basis. We’re an independent service provider and not affiliated with Toto, which means our loyalty is to the installation, not the brand name.

Signs Your Toto Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts leaning even a few degrees off plumb. This usually means the original footer was undersized or the base was set directly into Dallas clay without a drainage layer. The fence is moving with the soil, and once it starts, it doesn’t correct itself.
  • Panels rattling or clicking at the post channels in wind. Toto panels seat into channels on the posts, and when the channel fasteners or the panel edges wear, you get movement. Left alone, that movement gets worse and starts ovaling the channel.
  • Visible rust staining below post caps or at panel edges. Dallas humidity and our rain patterns put steel components through a real cycle. The stain means the protective coating is compromised and the metal underneath is oxidizing.
  • Gaps opening at fence base where the grade has shifted. When the bottom rail lifts off the ground on one side and sinks on the other, your post footers were not set deep enough to reach stable soil below Dallas’s expansive clay layer.
  • Gate posts showing movement when the gate swings. This is the one to take seriously. A gate post that’s working loose is a falling hazard, and a fence in that condition needs to be addressed before it comes down on someone.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Dallas, most Toto fence installations we handle land between $3,500 and $9,000. The spread comes down to three things: how many linear feet you’re running, whether we’re repairing existing footings or setting new ones, and the panel height you’re working with. An eight-foot run is a different job than two hundred feet, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Every quote is a written line-item price before any work starts. You’ll see material separated from labor, you’ll see exactly what’s being replaced and what stays, and you’ll get a scope document that describes the dig depth, the base material, and the fastener schedule. No numbers that move at the door. That’s the Garrison Standard, and it’s been the way Bradford Remodeling Co Dallas has operated since we joined the Garrison Partners family in 2004.

Every completed fence project carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the work fails with materials or installation defects inside that year, we come back and correct it at no charge. You get a signed written guarantee in your hand at close, not a verbal promise you have to remember six months later.

DIY or Call Us?

A homeowner with a level, a tape measure, and patience can handle a few things here: replacing snap-in trim, touching up a surface scratch, confirming whether a post is out of plumb before it becomes a bigger issue. If you want to check posts, do it on a dry day with a four-foot level, two directions per post, and note anything beyond a quarter bubble off.

Setting posts in Dallas clay is where DIY goes sideways. The dig depth for a stable Toto fence post in this soil is typically deeper than the average rental auger wants to go, and getting the base right means drainage stone, compaction in lifts, and proper concrete collar work. If a post footer fails a year from now because the base was wrong, that’s not something you’ll want to dig up and redo by hand. If a gate post is moving, that’s a safety issue, and it’s not worth gambling on.
